Stacey Peters was elected chair of the Democratic Small County Coalition of Florida during its reorganization meeting on March 4, 2021.
Peters is state committeewoman for the Levy County Democratic Party and she is president of the Democratic Women’s Club of Levy County. She also serves as Candidate Training and Development chair for the Democratic Women’s Club of Florida.
The Small County Coalition (SCC) is comprised of 35 predominately rural counties in Florida, which has a total of 67 counties. The SCC serves as a liaison between small counties and the Florida Democratic Party. It also works to help smaller population counties promote participation in election activities, support Democratic candidates at all levels of government, and foster effective Democratic Party action at the local level.
“Floridians need to unite on problems that are hurting our state regardless of party affiliation,” Peters added. Giving our water away to corporations who turn around and sell it to us, pushing for unnecessary toll roads through our rural counties and making it harder for people to vote is a perversion of what we elected our leaders to do. These are just a few examples of non-partisan issues that we can come together on. By focusing on the issue and not the politics surrounding it, we can defend Florida together. As a native Floridian, I cherish the future of our great state. We should not have to protect that future from the people who were elected to protect it. We deserve better!”
